This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. This rug was created in the Varanasi region of India, by the weavers in the Bhadohi village. The inspiration for this Persian rug design originated in Mahal, which is a province well known for their rug designs and colors. The rug weaving villages in Mahal are famous for their floral patterns. The weaving technique is hand-tufted, which is a rug making process where weavers insert yarn into the rug backing with a hand held tufting gun to push and pull the threads through a pre-woven grid foundation. In a tufted rug, the tops of the loops are sheared to expose the ends of the threads for a softer, plusher pile. The pile height is 0.5 inches. The knot count per square inch for this rug is 200. This rug is made of 100-percent wool. The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected.
